Art, Plants & Playful Light: Photographing Amy Wright’s New Collection for Tappan at Roraima Nursery
Some shoots are pure magic from the moment you unpack the camera and this was one of them.
I recently had the pleasure of photographing Ceres based artist Amy Wright’s stunning new body of work on canvas, created for Tappan Gallery in Los Angeles. The paintings were photographed on-site at Roraima Nursery, a lush, otherworldly haven of sculptural plants, sun-dappled plantings and winding gravel paths. It’s also the place that inspired the collection so what better backdrop to use for photographing the paintings.
The brief was to create a series of images that celebrated the work and the environment they grew from. Amy’s abstract pieces are full of earthy tones, soft forms and a rhythm that feels both playful and grounded, much like the setting itself. I worked with the natural light and layered textures of the nursery to showcase the works.
As a Geelong-based commercial and lifestyle photographer, I love working with artists, designers and creatives to bring their vision to life through thoughtful, visually rich storytelling. Whether it’s photographing paintings for an international gallery or capturing the quiet mood of a location, I bring a mix of vibrant energy, attention to detail, and a genuine love for what I do.
Big thanks to Amy Wright, Tappan Collective, and Roraima Nursery.
