Recycle

The Recycle series was photographed as part of an ongoing collaboration project with myself and long time pal Zoe Hodgens for The Weekend Works. We first created the art works in studio. Had them printed and then framed by United Measures. We then photographed them in studio in Geelong. Concept development, art direction and styling The Weekend Works. Thanks to Lichtenstein Studio and Big Daisy for the props and space for the location shoot.

The Weekend Works Finding delight amongst the mess of life

The Weekend Works started out as an experiment when founders, Sarah Anderson and Zoe Hodgens both found themselves at a crossroads of their creative paths. Forging successful careers in the creative industry in Melbourne - Sarah a Photographer and Zoe a Graphic Designer - each found themselves asking the same question, at the same time: ‘how can I push my creativity further?’

The only time to explore the answer together was on the weekend and so began their creative collaboration - The Weekend Works.

Producing art that echoes curiosity and newfound wonder, The Weekend Works reflects the world back to its audience. It is a platform for experimentation and the end-product is layered with delight, confrontation, playfulness and calm.

The Weekend Works seeks to ask the audience to relook at the world around us.

What is beautiful and what is wasteful?

What is collectible and what is throw-away?

What contributes joy and happiness in our lives every day?

Both Sarah and Zoe have found a new sense of creativity that arises when the brief is open and tools are at the fingertips.  They have been able to push each other to explore new styles and techniques. There is joy in getting things wrong, being messy, making mistakes and this approach inspires The Weekend Works collections.

The Weekend Works currently have collections of limited prints for sale on their website. Their latest collection Recycle moves away from their previous bold colour collections, taking inspiration from material, shapes and forms that we all interact with everyday.
Prints can be purchased separately or in a set from their website theweekendworks.com.au

For further enquiries, you can contact both Sarah and Zoe via their website.
